The Tang years marked a high point when the capital city Chang’an buzzed with traders, monks, and travelers from all over, trade along the Silk Road brought wealth and new ideas, poets like Li Bai and Du Fu wrote timeless verses, Empress Wu Zetian ruled as the only woman on the throne, and even though the later An Lushan rebellion caused serious damage, the era left a powerful legacy.
